Andrew Van Winkle capped off the RAD Torque Raceway tripleheader with a commanding victory in Sunday’s Pro Supersport race, reminding everyone why he’s one of the fiercest young talents in Canadian road racing.
After narrowly missing out in race two and salvaging a podium in race three, Van Winkle came out swinging for the weekend finale. Launching off the line from the front row, the Mountainview Motorsports Suzuki rider grabbed the holeshot and never looked back.
The 18-year-old showed total control in tricky conditions, navigating a damp but drying track with poise. While others struggled to adapt, Van Winkle thrived—stretching out a gap early and managing his tires to perfection en route to a dominant, wire-to-wire win.
“That was pretty wild. I expected a pretty tough battle with Torin, but I looked back and no one was there,” Van Winkle said. “I just tried to keep my head down and manage the rain tires. I was pretty nervous with how slick it was getting at the end.”
He crossed the line nearly seven seconds ahead of championship leader Torin Collins, claiming his third career Pro Supersport victory and delivering a crucial blow in the title race.
With the win, Van Winkle closes the championship gap to just 24 points with two rounds remaining. His ability to bounce back after setbacks earlier in the weekend shows the grit and consistency needed to mount a serious title charge.
Sunday’s performance wasn’t just a win—it was a statement. Van Winkle didn’t just beat the field—he left them behind.
