Andrew Van Winkle, a rising star in the Canadian Superbike Championship (CSBK), cemented his place in history by becoming the youngest pro champion in the series. The 16-year-old FD Racing Suzuki rider claimed victory in the Bickle Racing Pro Twins class race, earning him the title after a stellar season.
Despite holding a comfortable four-point lead over injured rival Jeff Williams, Van Winkle chose to race on Sunday, showcasing his dominance by defeating veteran Hans Van Sleuwen. The victory capped off a sensational year, as the Chilliwack, BC native celebrated his championship win atop the podium.
“It was a hard few laps, and I actually had a few scary moments out there, but I’m up here to talk about it, so it ended up okay,” Van Winkle said with a smile. “I’m really happy to win the race and excited to bring home the #1 plate.”
As the inaugural Twins champion, Van Winkle is now weighing his options for next season. He hinted at a potential move to the competitive Sport Bike class, though he has yet to confirm if he will defend his Pro Twins title.
